Hi, I plan on using the MIS pigment based Eboni inks in a cheap 6 cartridge epson printer. Though I'm printing on a transparency OHP material to make digital negatives. Does anyone know if the Eboni inks will adhere well to transparency material? I just want to know if its worth going down this road and later I find out if was all worth my time and cost... Thanks Jag24x

Hi Eric, Yes am looking at printing Pictorico OHP brand. I think the OHP material has a glossy surface, and i've read that the Eboni inks only like matte surfaces? Though I was wondering if anyone has had any success in printing B&W transparencies with the Eboni Ink? Perhaps there is another ink I should be looking at? jag24x

I have made negs with Cone's Peizotones on Photo Warehouse Ultra Clear Film UCF, that is a glossy material. I also have used the OHP with K3 inks as well as K2. I am currently using K3 and Inkpress material. I have not unfortunately for you made any with Eboni so I can't say. The printers that I use are a 7000 and a 4800; the 4800 without a RIP and the 7000 uses IP. The surface of the negative is, however, slightly fragile - if you touch it with fingers you can smudge it, especially shortly after you print it. I put a thin sheet of transparent material between the negative and the coated paper when exposing and this prevents any transfer, especially where the paper is still slightly damp. I don't know if other inks have the same fragility, but I'd expect so. Some of that also depends on the ink load, which of course you can adjust in QTR.

Pictorico OHP is by far the best medium that I have come across as the surface is so absorbent and it is possible to print at 2880 dpi without causing any flooding. The digital negative needs an adjustment curve to accommodate the analogue image you wish to achieve. This is easily acquired by trial an error as it is dependent upon your printer/inks and the medium for the analogue positive. Robin Hodges [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

So you tried the Inkpress Robin? And you have experience with both the old OHP and the new? Or just the new? I don't see any puddlling with Inkpress or Pictorico OHP @ 2880. Then again I didn't see any with Ultra Clear at 2880 either, but that was with IP running the show.
