They seem to be good ones -- similar to what MIS uses for the 1400 and most newer printers.

QTR is useful with that setup. I just did not do the profiling, in part because I pulled the plug on the project when the cart sponge problem appeared. But with the 1400, I run QTR with 2 profiles, utilizing the sliders. One profile uses Eb6 2% (Y) and K. The other profile uses a second Eboni in black only mode. At 50/50 this gives me a nice combination of smoothness and tone.

The chips might be incompatible and stop the system from running. You might need the same type of chips in all positions.

I don't know. I never use the plain paper setting for photo printing.

I think with the higher quality paper settings it's using all the inks.
