Podnc Black & White Plug-In

Podnc Black & White Plug-In

2009-07-17 by Le Globe Trotteur

It's been a while since I sent an email to promote the little windows photoshop plug-in I have been coding.
The plug-in was originally made to create digital negatives for alternative processes. The issue was that I could never find an efficient plug-in that would give me the best black & white conversion from a color image without spending a lot of time in front of the monitor.
Podnc will give you (I think) the best B&W output for your color image.
The main thing I now have included is its own print engine. Podnc has now a calibration photo (under the file menu) that will allow you to correctly match the brightness of your print to your monitor by adjusting the gamma value in the print dialog.
When you load the plug-in, if you press the R key, you will have a full B&W preview of your image. If you need more control, a slide in/out panel on the right of the screen will give you more options.
I hope i am not offending anybody by this post but I think some users may be interested. If you have any questions specific to the plug-in, i would appreciate if you ask them in a private email not to spam this list.
You will find a download button under the podnc menu on my web site.
Sincerely,
PO

What !!!! I use Joomla for the Web and Godaddy for hosting. I have never
heard something like that. Do you have the email? I have had users that had
purchased photos and I never had an issue.
I need to find out what's going on.
Thanks for letting me know.

The first time you posted this several months ago you seemed to get
plenty of feedback about what exactly you are selling, it was not very
clear. I just went to your web site and it is still VERY confusing on
what you are selling. Could you provide a detailed explanation of what
it is, what it does, what are system requirements, and why it would be
better then all the other plug-ins (if that is what it is?) out there?

Re: [Digital BW] Podnc Black & White Plug-In

2009-07-18 by Le Globe Trotteur

Mark, here you go:
Podnc is a windows photoshop plugin. It has been tested with Cs2,Cs3 and Cs4 on windows 2000/XP and Vista.
This plug-in has 2 purposes.
1) easy conversion of a color image into a B&W ones. Check this web page to give you an idea.
http://www.pierreoliviertavernier.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=52&Itemid=128
In the plug-in, you work on your color image to add layers, dodge, burn...When you release the mouse, the algorithm regenerate the best B&W optimization for your color image. You can have a full screen preview by pressing the R key.
The right-mouse button will give you access to all the main function.
Podnc has its own printing engine. If you go under file-->podnc-->calibration you will be able to print a test photo to match your printer by adjusting the gamma value in the print dialog.
Podnc also supports loading and saving POdnc and Photoshop curves and has presets film toning capability.
2) easy creation of curves for alternative processes. I will not go into details on this point because it is not this forum's main topic.

You can download the plug-in by going directly here:
http://www.pierreoliviertavernier.com/index.php?option=com_weblinks&view=category&id=2%3Apodncsoft&Itemid=23

An uninstall application is included if you want to remove it at any time. Try it, try it and you may...
Let me know if that answers most of your questions.

If my B&W plug-in is better than any others, I am not sure if I should be the one answering that. Judge by yourself.
Install the plug-in, go under filter in Photoshop, load the filter and press the R key to see the full preview then let me know.
Sincerely,
PO

Is there a free trial. I do a lot of b&w conversions and have been the researching the subject since PS4 years ago. I would be interested to try your plugin out. But not buying before trying.
We are portrait photographers and all of our work for the last twenty years has been b&w art prints.

Yep, go here...
http://www.pierreoliviertavernier.com/index.php?option=com_weblinks&view=category&id=2%3Apodncsoft&Itemid=23
If you need help, email or join the yahoo forum.
Thanks.
PS: the plug-in uses the zone system to select individualy and process individually specific zones. It also let you select only highlights, mid-tones or shadows.
At the bottom of the screen, you'll see valuable information about the zone system when you move your cursor.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
