Digital BW, The Print

Bought an Epson R 220, 2 Years(?) ago with the intention to make it a dedicated B&W printer. It never happened and the printer remains sitting in the corner of my apartment, in its box, unopened. 
Is there a limit as to how long a brand new printer can sit before use?
Any suggestions as to how to best setup this machine? Are there issues because it has been sitting so long?

I suspect Epson has some substance in the printer heads initially that helps to extend the shelf life of the new ones.

The Epson R220 inks are dyes that should not settle.  I might agitate them a bit, just in case, but I do think the OEM inks ought to be the first thing that is put into the printer.  It'll probably work.
