Hi Paul:

Thanks for the info. I'd love to see results on Hanemuele papers. Is the
MIS VM the same as MIS double density black. It's probably been answered
before but I'm very curious.

Thanks again,

Hi Andy, No. The VM black is slightly VERY slightly blacker. For the
blackest pigment ink, it would be hard to beat generations "enhanced"
black. (Although this does have just a touch of dye in it.)

Paul, which ink gave the darkest black, the MIS VM, or the Gen 4 Enhanced
Black?

Touch = 25% dye.

Ok, a BIG touch! :)

Jerry

But still black, and still damn good at resisting fading....

Andrew,

They are getting so many positive reviews, I'll have to give them a run
along with an EAM for comparison.

No, DD black was also in this test and it is less black than the other two
and half way between in performance.

The MIS Vm ink is the same as the MIS FS ink. I think it is also the same
as Piezo ink.

When I was specifying the inks for the variable-tone inkset, I tested a lot
of inks. Piezo black was THE best I tested. (Best here refers to light
fastness and resistance to warming, especially for the blackness achieved.)
I basically said that I was going to use Piezo black unless MIS could come
up with an equal one. MIS really searched the market and found one that is
equal. So, equal I'll bet it's the same ink. After all, there are really
just a couple of large chemical companies (the source likely in Japan) that
make all the pigments for these inks. The same pigments are probably
re-packaged by a number of intermediaries by the time they get to us. I'd
love to be able to trace the source of the VM black, but there are obviously
some things a re-seller is not going to share with its customers.

Tom,

Gen 4 Enhanced black is darker than MIS VM black.
