Dye ink base

Dye ink base

2010-03-08 by Keith

I know that this is a bit off topic, but I have been searching for several weeks and can find no useful information.

I have a reason to print with quadtone dye, it is because the ink jet film that I use to make big negatives does not happily take pigment.

I need a base similar to Pauls pigment base but suitable for dye.

Any help or pointers would be very much appreciated.

Keith Dugdale.

I suspect the C6 type base would work with dyes, but I've never tried it. Try a Google on inkjet dyes and you'll probably find all sorts of patents that disclose what others are using.

I've just spent the last week tuning an Epson 3000 with diluted Dye ink using Pauls C6 base with black and 3 dilutions

Now I haven't used any other inks at all in the 3000 besides normal Epson CMYK, but I didn't even need to use flush carts with the residual as the Dye base ink mixed so well for the dilutions.

It's simple and inexpensive enough to mix the base and then test the dye your going to dilute as a test.
