Re: [Doepfer_a100] Two more sound examples for the A-188-2

2006-10-23 by selfoscillate

hello bruce,

in contemporary electronic music a lot of plugins are being
used to degrade or destroy a sound. things like bitcrushers
are very popular nowadays. the a188/? can create similar
sounding effects, just because of the absence of these filters.
after all it is a simple task to add an external filter
if you need one. ok, the extra space is a good point,
but an external filter is much more versatile, because you can
individually adjust the filter to your taste. also you have to
take into account that the a188/? would probably need a bigger
faceplate for the additional filter controls, so in the end you
would save 4 te of space or so. i have lots of bbd-stuff and on
all bbd's with built-in filters you have a strong "dulling"
effect because these filters are not adjustable.
with an external filter you have a lot more control
over the high frequency content of the sound.

best wishes

ingo
