Though I still have no sound examples, here my preliminary results OSC-01: Nice bread and butter module for the reconstruction of a standard synth, but not intended for exceptional VCO-constructions. Three A-100 oscillators sound definitely more thrilling. But thats as DCOs are. Reminds me definitely to my JX-3P. The double osc hardsync is definitely nicer then on the roland ;-) SEQ-01. One of the coolest drum sequencers I know - with few minus points. It produces not only triggers, but a dynamic triggersper instrument and step! It means the trigger voltage can have different levels (MFB calls it different accent levels). This is perfect for playing resonant filter drums (808-style), or drummodules which are inteded to be played with pads. Great! No difference between Record and Play. Thats what we always wished for our TR-808! Very easy to handle. External/internal Clock can be 16th or 96th (DIN-Sync) With 96th clock you have 7 swing factors; to be honest, I found only the first one (the smallest) useful. one big and two small critical points: 1.) The final write pattern function (after editing the pattern) causes the sequence to stumble rhytmically. Very bad in 96th clock mode. Better in 16th clock mode but still hearable. In 96th you loos the sync. In 16th (external clock) most times you may be lucky and keep the sync, but bad if not. This should be improved in a second series of the Module (I don't know whether changing the EPROM contents in a finished module is possible - its all made from smb components)! 2.) When editing the three different accent levels you can not see a difference, which steps have which level. I don't know whether there is a solution thinkable whcih satisfies all needs. And finally you can handle it as it is. 3.) There is no possibility to copy single instruments of one pattern to another pattern. Nevertheless. This is a real great drumsequencer!!! Maybe I will build trigger inputs in my 808 and do the control with the SEQ-01 Florian -- Florian Anwander, ConSol* Consulting&Solutions Software GmbH Franziskanerstr. 38, D-81669 Muenchen, Tel. ++49(89)45841-133 http://www.consol.de
