Doepfer

If I didn¹t carry mine onto the plane itself (which I always do) and if I
decided to ship it as checked baggage, I¹d put it into another case with
foam padding or some such. I don¹t trust the airlines to not smash it.

Anecdote: English saxophonist John Butcher bought an outer flight case for
his already well-protective sax case, and his horn STILL got bent from
baggage handling.

Another anecdote: Anthony Braxton had his F-alto stolen OUT OF THE CASE by
baggage handlers. The case arrived, but the horn didn¹t.

Considering the current climate of TSA inspections, too, I¹d prefer to open
my Doepfer case in person with the inspectors and have them swab it in front
of me, rather than let somebody possibly dismantle it and damage it behind
the scenes. 

That¹s my feeling, anyway. Fortunately, the A-100 case makes a great
carry-on in terms of size and weight, both in North America and Europe (in
my experience of flying with it for a couple of years).
