Re: [Doepfer_a100] Shepard tone/Barberpole effect

2008-04-11 by charles kerr

I bought a second hand 191 recently, and have only used it briefly with four oscillators (I only have four at the moment) The effect is pretty interesting, but I quickly realised that one would need 8 oscillators or filters to get a really solid effect, I am building some CGS VCO's, and once these are finished I'll be able to try out some other ideas. (I tried it with four osc 90 degrees apart, and also all at 45 degrees apart so I could examine a 'part' of the effect)

I did find that it may be interesting to add attenuation or offset to different phases of the sawtooth/triangle - especially with voltage control of these processes - to generate an ensemble effect with parts 'rising' or 'falling' in and out of it. The need to have 8 of everything does take its toll though!

I am, though, looking forward to playing with this further in the future once my modular is big enough!

I'D LIKE TO HAVE SOME FEEDBACK

 IF THERE IS ANY

 Hello,

Does anyone here experiment with the Shepard Tone module (which is not available
anymore) or now also now with the A143-9?

I am interrested in this special nerver-ending rising effect.

If you use the A143-9, can you roughly explain if it works well and if the patch
 takes lots
 of module or not?

 Thanks for yr eventual feedback

 BEST,

 ALEXANDRE
