I once proposed a module that would voltage control an iPod. The  
older iPods with the remote controls on the headphone cables are a  
easier hack - just pop them open and "push" the buttons  
electronically. The newer one require some programming chops though  
and although you can get the serial protocol on the net - it demands  
a little more computer chops than I have. All the latest generations  
of pods can be controlled via the doc so if anyone can hack up a  
interface I would buy one. The Nano size is perfect for the euro  
panel size. CV in for volume up/down, play/pause, next/previous, menu  
up/down, audio in/out and record would be great. Just a clip to hold  
the pod and the doc connector. Since you can record and play Aiff  
files at full resolution on the things it would be great for  
background tracks (ambience for me). I know other MP3 players are  
cheaper etc and there are even chip sets that can be bought that do  
the same thing, but for me there is a certain ease of use factor for  
me in my setup that would make the iPod perfect. THE ADDED WOW FACTOR  
- the iPod's VIDEO OUT can be used to show pre-made video tracks that  
can be selected/triggered to play from it too.
