They're both pretty awesome. The Malgorithm without the "Evil On"
switches starts off pretty basic. Most "Evil On"combination
sound very noisy right away (not always a bad thing).
The thing about the 189-1 is that most modes go from pretty
basic to total chaos with just a little CV. For some reason
I end up using an additional attenuator with the CV inputs.
I can't say I really understand what the hell is going on with
the 16 modes. I just keep switching around settings until something
cool happens and record that. For the price the 189-1 is a great deal
and I'm sure does a lot of great stuff I haven't discovered yet.
The Malgorithm has a high functionality and any Harvestman
module is worth owning. I had planned to do comparisons
of the 2 modules with "similar" settings but they reacted so
differently there didn't seem to be any point. The other really
fun thing is to use them to screw up CVs. Take smooth triangle
LFOs and turn them into fucked up pixelated CV steps!
