I just hooked a copy of the Nord G2 demo program up to my MOTU 828 Mk1 and fed it's outs to my Doepfer modular. I made a simple patch with a LFO, Sequencer, amp module, and output module. The Demo is limited to two output channels so I fed the Sequencer CV out one channel (through some amp modules to boost the gain) and the LFO square wave I was using as a clock out the other channel. I later put an AND gate on it with the sequencers step gates out so I could turn noted on and off. I used that to trigger some Envelope generators on the modular. It worked! The scaling was a bit weird but I'm sure I can deal with that somehow with more time. I don't plan on doing note data anyway - MIDI>CV converters do that well enough. In any case I used it to prove my interface will work with Volta. The Nord G2 demo is FREE and you can get it here: http://www.nordkeyboards.com/main.asp?tm=Products&clpm=Nord_Modular_G2&clnmm=Information It is not the Volta but it still opens up a lot of experimenting. And of course being free is just to nice to pass up. -James [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Poor man's Volta - or at least a way to test your interface...
