I have an old 2-channel scope that I got for cheap standing on top of the rack that houses my synth. It came with four probes so I sacrificed two to make BNC to 3.5mm and 1/4" jacks respectively. One I can patch into the synth and one is attached to the monitor out on my mixer. Works like a charm. I've heard of people panel mounting cheap digital scopes - I think Doepfer actually offers a kit for doing just that.
