Maybe you could get someone to weld brackets or studs to the back of the
front panel? Aluminium welding is very good these days.
 
That Wasp logo is sweet. I didn't realise you could do such delicate
work with the CNC machine - it's got me thinking about my panels ;o)

Thats one forum im not actually on, but Gregg (babaluma) sent me the
link when he first posted pictures.

I should really make another of those 606s. The other one of the pair
that Gregg has sold for a lot of money on ebay, but they take a long
time to do, and ive got a real adversion to ebay at the moment.

If i were to do another, i wouldnt use printed overlays, but engrave the
whole panel. I dont find the printed overlay accurate enough for my
likings - there always seems to be a tiny bit of shrinkage, and ive
tried to compensate, but its not ideal. At least with the engraving, i
know whats going on all the time, and, as i built the cnc machine, if
there ever is an issue, i know what to do about it.

Im not sure as itlld look better or not though. Its not apparent from
the outside, but the boards in that rack 606 are held in place inside by
bolts that go through the front panel. These are countersunk, and then
filled and smoothed over the top, before the overlay is put on (so
theyre invisable from the outside). With an engraved finish stuff like
this wouldnt be possible, and there is not enough thickness of panel to
simply have blind tapped holes. So the bolts would have to be visable on
the outside.

A4 stainless stays shiny all the time (its the same as i use on the
x0xb0x units) and the allen cap bolts look quite nice, in an industrial
sort of way, but, even so, im not sure....

At present im working on a rack mount edp wasp for a customer who doesnt
even have a case for his machine. Itll be a 2u midi only device (no
keyboard) with engraved front.
