Some of the very first Midi units transmitted only once the note on status
byte after power on and then followed only data bytes (note number/velocity
with velocity = 0 for note off). Try this: turn the P800 off and on after a
few seconds while it is connected to the A-190. Then the initial status byte
should be transmitted. Hope this helps.
