Generally such protection resistors should be used on all outputs unless it's an output that requires high precision e.g. for VCO pitch control with 1.00V/oct. In this case a special output circuitry should be used (like the A-185-1 or A-185-2) to avoid voltage losses caused by a protection resistor. Best wishes Dieter Doepfer
