Doepfer

Hi all
I've just picked up a used A154 and hooked it up to the A155 (correctly...I've double checked everything).
It's powering up but I'm getting odd sequences:
On row 1 steps 1 - 2 and 8 are lighting up only and then only 1 and 8 triggering with a cv.
On row 2 the same but no cv.
Switching back to A155 and using an external clock results in the same.
Disconnect the A154 and use the A155 on its own and everything is ok.
Could the A154 be faulty?
