I'm the guy who was wondering in the eailier post. Composite video can come in three different standards - NTSC, PAL, and SECAM. The main differences are the number of lines in the picture, the frame rate, and the frequency of the subcarrier used for color information. If the VD-01 displays in B&W then most of the differences from PAL and NTSC are not involved (since they have to do with color subcarrier frequencies). The lines per frame and scanning rates (625lines@50hz vs 525lines@60Hz) probably don't matter much with this type of signal. They would with the output of a video player.
