Thanks for the reply Ollie; I've not explored the feedback loop yet - but I'll definitely give it a try. Glad you're having fun with your A111-5 too ;-) I'm hoping to use the A111-5 in a mini suitcase modular when I've got the time, along with the A190-2, AS RS95e VCO, AS RS380, a Mattson VCF DIY board (on it's way), & some kind of BBD analogue delay module. That's 2x VCO's, 2x VCF's, 3x LFO's (VCLFO in the RS380), Noise, S&H, 2x VCA's, 1x ADSR and delay, in the tiniest of spaces. I may get the Mattson Glide DIY Board, which will give me a second slew generator, or I can use it as a second envelope/simple AR generator. I'm aiming at something quite small, 60-66HP wide; one row of 3U modules, and a half row using the Mattson VCF & Glide boards, plus a couple of attenuators & multiples etc. I'm hoping to get it all in a 13" wide x 8.5" high space. I may attempt battery power, if I can keep the power requirements down to below 260mA per rail - but we'll see! The new DIY Board looks an interesting and inexpensive way of expanding a small modular, don't you think? Actually I wanted to buy only the Dark Energy but after three days I realized the possibilities and the fun behind a A-100 modular system, brought the Dark Energy back to the dealer and bought a A-111-5 with some other modules. I build the case by my self. > > Today, I've made a very very nice discovery the get a really fat sound out of this little magic box: Just feedback the audio output in the external input and you will get a really fat sound! > I've plugged the audio output in a multiples, from the multiples back into the external input and also from the multiples to the audio interface. > The audio output has only 1V instead the system's 5V, so you can't overdrive your A-111-5 so easy. I've heard a few demos, mostly acid type bleeps & blips; no problem with that, I enjoyed hearing them, but I wanted to know if it could do fatter old school type of sounds, ...and it can!! Some of the pots seem a bit twitchy and need very careful setting up. There are some great simple patches to be had, such as using LFO1 as a drone. Feeding the LFO1 output into the ext audio input, and playing a big fat lead with a long release time over the top, is way too much fun - the long release is obviously needed so that you can still hear the drone, ...and it stays in tune too! I wanted to see what I could achieve with the just the A190-2 and the A111-5; of course, if you use an attenuator on the LFO1 output, then you can then get the relative VCO lead/LFO1 drone level just right. Usually more modules = more fun, but sometimes less is more. > > > > The mock-up pic of the Dark Time looks promising, as does the new DIY stuff which is shown in the NAMM_news_2010.pdf ;-) > > > > Cheers, > > > > Ralph > > >
