to answer my own question:
 
connecting the SH7 'pedal vcf input' to the VAC 
output of the A101-9 Universal Vactrol module worked fine!
 
now the vcf frequency is controlled by this vactrol, 
who is in turn controlled by its own cv input on the A101-9.
so, i also have build in 'growl' response... due to 
the vactrol's own time lag...
 
but, i am still waiting, from someone on this list, 
to confirm that it is safe to connect it that way and that i will not damage the 
SH7 or the modular.

'pedal vcf input' (seems to be powered) works like a simple variable resistor (i guess that i can 
simply connect a variable resistor to this input to change the filter cutoff), 
could i use the Doepfer A101-9 Universal Vactrol module, to 
operate the SH7 filter without any modification to the synth? (using the 'vac
