A107 results percentage per feature

2002-11-03 by ringmod45

Hi List,

thanks to everyone who voted in the poll for the forthcoming new A107
CEM 3372 filter based on the Erwik/Matrix 12 model. this should give
a basic idea to Doepfer of what list members had to say on the
subject.

19 people voted in the poll. multiple questions were asked in the
A107 poll. in order to get the proper %'s for each of the questions.
i divided the answers by the total of number persons who voted in the
poll.

#1) would you like to have all 15 filter types of the original
Matrix 12 plus the New Ones being developed by Doepfer?

18 votes, 15.25% 18/19 = 94%

#2) would you like the ability to morph smoothly through all the
filter types?,

18 votes, 15.25% 18/19 = 94%

#3)would you like to have the Hard switching option on the final
output VCA?,

12 votes, 10.17% 12/19 = 63%

#4) would you like to have one or more memories to sequence the
filter types for the Voltage Control Filter Selection input?

9 votes, 7.63% 9/19 = 47%

#5) would you like to have the filter Self Oscillate?(if possible)

12 votes,10.17% 12/19 = 63%

#6) would you like to have Voltage Control of the Resonance?

18 votes, 15.25% 18/19 = 94%

#7) would you like to have an extra Voltage Control Input with an
Attenuator?(i.e. one fixed input and two inputs with Attenuators like
the A120)

17 votes, 14.41% 17/19 = 90%

#8) would you like to have input and an attenuator to control the
time base the Voltage Control Filter Type Selection memory sequence ?
( please refer to the post with" A107 Time Base Input" in the subject
header)

14 votes, 11.86% 14/19 = 74%

so there you have it. 9 persons voted for question #4 and 14 persons
voted for question #8. question #8 is directly related to question
#4, so the results of #4 should be closer to #8 for question #8 to
have any validity. i don't believe this would be as costly to
implement as the morphing feature. it would be a great function for
sonic mangling and sound design.

the next question we need to ask ourselves is, How much do we want to
pay for this morphing function? 18 of 19 people or 94% of you voted
to have this feature. so judging by what Mr.Doepfer wrote about the
price options described in Digest # 2457 and the suggestion from
Bakis to do a poll concerning the pricing structure of the A107, it
is obvious some of these results might or might not be useful if
price does become
an issue.

i think there should be two versions of the A107. one with all the
features that were voted in this poll and the other with less
features to match the more simple layouts of the A120, A122, A123,
A124.etc. having just a simple function set and layout for this
filter would be a shame due to the sonic possibilities laying there
with the features that were voted for in the poll.

oh well, i guess it really boils down to people's pocket books. for
me, the more creative possibilities and esoteric functions on a
module determines my decision to buy it and not the price. sometimes
functions are more useful than saving a couple of bucks.

so Bakis, would you like me to do another to solidify the price to
function ratio?

regards,
RM
