Peter and James - Thanks guys for the replies, agree the modules aren't too bad on their own but they add up LOL - 12U case packed feels like about 40-45lbs so that plus 2 x 9U would be say another 50-60lbs so the base is carrying approx. 100lbs - so I guess that will hold? eekk ;-) I like the rack idea and have a few 12U desktop racks, but I'm pretty invested in these cases and theft aside I do like the fact that I can put the covers on these bad boys and they are effectively somewhat mobile / movable (not that I'd do that much). So I think I will have to continue to 3 row of 168HP if this last 9U round doesn't hold me + a small step stool will be in order ;-) Cheers gentlemen, Stu --- In Doepfer_a100@yahoogroups.com, James Husted <james.husted@...> wrote: > > If you are reaching that height you might as well go rack mounted and get some good rack towers to put things in. It makes it a lot harder to steal too. My rig is 4 A-100P6 boxes stacked 2x2 and that is about as tall as I would want to do - go wider and get a rolling chair. > > -James > > James Husted > Designer, Synthwerks LLC > www.synthwerks.com > james@... > synthwerks@... > > > On Aug 9, 2013, at 7:44 AM, shoskins99 <shoskins99@...> wrote: > > > Hi Everyone, > > > > So I am very very fortunate to have a monster base A-100 case (A-100PMB), on top of that is a 12U Monster case (A-100PMS12) and on top of that is a 9U (A-100PMS9). It's quite stable and I have some of the rear metal brackets ordered to bolt them together. > > > > My question is if I wanted to add another 9U (A-100PMS9) to the stack are there any issues with the Base Unit taking the weight? > > > > The logical thing to do is start another stack (which I am guilty of doing so as again I am very lucky to have 2x mentioned above) but can't really fit a 3rd row of 168HP horizontally in my work space so wanted to continue to go vertically. > > > > The base is very very solid but was curious if what I am suggesting is just a tad risky? > > > > Thanks for any constructive input. > > > > Stu > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > > > > Yahoo!
