The A-150-8 includes 8 switches. A "smooth" transition cannot be generated
by a switch but requires special VC crossfaders (i.e. 16 VCAs with 8 voltage
inverter circuits and 8 slew limiters). This would be much more complex and
expensive. And it would no longer work in both directions.
