RE: [Doepfer_a100] A-135 Voltage Controlled Mixer

2002-12-18 by David Salter

Hi there,

The A144 does exactly that when combined with the A135.

Providing you set the 4 initial gains on the A135 to zero (the A135 uses
four VCA's to add the VC functionality), take the four outputs from the
a144 and connect to the VCA inputs of the A135. Connect a lfo/envelope
etc to the VC of the A144 and it will open the A135 VCA's in turn with
overlap so cross fading is achieved.

I tend to use then either to get slight timbral changes but cross fading
four different filters or a crude wave table type affair with it cross
fading waveforms.

Recently I have been playing with it as a way of changing formant sounds
(vocal sounds) and making sort of a monkish chant (needs more work).

A worthy addition in my opinion.

I'm considering adding an A-135 VC Mixer to my system.
Has anyone used these in combination with the A-144 Morphing
Controller or
	by itself?
Is it really worth the space it takes up, and what exactly does
the A-144
	add?
Is it possible to "crossfade" different signals, and do this
voltage
	controlled, without the A-144?

I guess it's either the VC Mixer, or I'm adding an A-134 VC
Panner to my
system, to crossfade/vc mix between two channels instead of
four...

Also, my apologies to Mr. Stinchcombe for not replying to his
questions and
remarks about doubling frequencies with a Ring Modulator. It
works okay with
lower frequencies, but I still can't turn 8kHz into 16kHz with
this setup
(which is kind of what I was looking to do, extending the
limited range of
	the A-110 with the A-114).

	Many thanks!
