Grounding (common 0V) two DIY PSU kits

2017-08-29 by Andy Harp

Hi (newbie here with possibly a dumb question). I have built a 12u case. I installed a single DIY kit (plus extra rails) with a plan to install another PSU later. I have now almost filled 6u and am about to get another DIY PSU kit.

My question is - should I jumper (with a flying cable) the 0v / gnd connections of the PSUs? My concern is that they are not earthed/grounded to a reference (not earthed to mains). However, as soon as I patch two modules from different supplies they will have a common 0v, so it probably makes sense to connect the two supplies. Should I do this with a plain lead ? Thanks in advance...

Cheers,
Andy
