Woops, I meant "clocked pattern generator"...

eehm, what for, if you can do this:

Noise -> S&H ->
          ^
          |
        Clock
-----------------------------------

Oh, drat! I hate it when I embarass myself.

I believe I got the name wrong. In the Nord, it's simply called a "clocked
pattern generator".

The pattern generator works like a 16 step sequencer. You feed it clock
pulses, and it outputs a 16 step pattern of control voltages. It's a
repeating pattern. The module has a bunch of patterns inside of it, and you
can select which pattern it plays by using knobs or CV.

Some other notes:

* In the nord, the number of steps is selectable.

* In the nord, there are 128 banks of 128 patterns. 16384 patterns total.

* In the nord, if you patch the CV out of the pattern generator to a gate
input of another module, you get a pattern of gates. I think this is just a
fluke of nature, but it's handy.

Truthfully, I'm sure you could recreate this behavior with existing
modules... but it would sure be nice to have it all wrapped up in one!

I've used this module in the nord to make algorithmic melody generators and
evolving drum patterns. (stuff that sounds like autechre) It works well
with a quantizer.

Thanks! Sorry for any confusion,
- Bret
