Low Pass Gate and PLL

2004-05-28 by ilanode

Hi list, I receives the LPG prototype a while ago. Time is bad so I
didn't test it thoroughly. My first impression: A gem! For many
applications e.g. anti-kraftwerkish bass lines I could do with it as
a main LPF and VCA. Mind you, I tend to add 2nd VCA (plus a 2nd EG)
at the add of a signal chain for a more precise controll.
High values of Q sometimes add a distortion probalby to no ones
liking. Simply great is the common LPF/VCA mode which closes filter
and VCA at the same time. The quieter the signal the lower it gets
soundwise.
Also got the PLL. This one still needs to be explored in more detail
by myself. The result on the first try was marvellous. A very low
external VCO (= (almost?) LFO mode) led the internal VCO to follow
rhythmically. Sounded great. Further attempts were not that
promissing bcs the results ended up in noisy/distorted sounds a bit
similiar to a RM feeded with various noises. Definately the PLL is
more than a device for strange sounds but needs some understanding.
Regards, Ilanode
