I use mine for audio all the time too.

They're just a different response curve, that's all.  Exp. is considered
more suitable for audio, as loudness is perceived on an exponential, not
linear scale (probably something to do with loads of physics to do with air
pressure, or the construction of your ear or something)

But a linear vca used for audio will just seem to get louder along a
slightly different curve.

I´ve just ordered an A132 dual VCA and I think somone (Bakis) once
said that he used it for Audio too and not just CV.
