Ingo (and anyone else interested in such things),

I wasn't thinking of it as a straight replacement, it's just that I have one
potential slot on my AS (where the moog lpf is now) and I was just thinking
about another possibility for this slot. I like comb filters - I use plugin
combs a lot - and I don't have an analogue one, so that's why I thought of
the AS comb... Given that it's a bbd device it should really twang, though
:) Paul Nagle in SOS once described it in loving terms and while his words
have faded from my mind his sentiment has not.

>the ems diode filters sound
>quite different compared to the moog ladder filters

This post was sort of overtaken by events. Yesterday I finally made the
order (barring an a106 and a planB which are still to come) which will fill
up my case. Since I had some cash over I also started a Blacet system (a
miniwave and a time machine). While I was at John's site I checked out the
clips for the final and filthy filters and was well impressed. I will
*definitely* be getting both at some time in the future. This means that I
will have a lot of filters to choose from :)

As should be clear from my earlier posts about the a106 and a107 I like
filters with balls and I suspect that the synthi filter is a burbly bubbly
filter but not a roaring monster (although I liked your a102 clips quite a
lot). The SOS review also described it as "polite". This is more of an
indictment on me than anything else but the music I make is pretty dense and
subtle differences in filter types generallly get lost in the mix.
Qualities like tightness and presence are thus more useful to me.

Given all of this info (and you have those Blacet filters too IIRC), would
you still still think the ems is a worthwhile option? I will probably not
get another rack of AS but I will definitely get another 6U of doepfer as
soon as I can afford it so I could always get the a102 at a later stage
anyway...

thanks and regards

Pierre
