Re: [Doepfer_a100] designing a small portable mini case for a100 modules

2005-02-24 by Julian

Cases are an areao thats so specific to purpose. What exactly are you trying to achieve?

Are you wanting somthing akin to an effects rack for djing, etc. or are you wanting a portable modular, for playing live?

I wanted the latter, and came up with this:

But that may be far bigger then you want. And how 'diy' do you want to get too?

If youre happy to go the whole hog, then watch out on ebay for 2nd hand power one power supplies, get a +/- 12v one (most are both
12 and 15 volt - user adjustable) and, whilst youre at it, watch out for eurorack parts too. The parts you see in the photos of
mine were mainly bought as packs 2nd hand, and then altered / added to for my needs.

Im not 100% convinced at building bus boards to be honest. I need to break mine down and increase the earth line gauge, but doepfer
sells the busses sepperatly anyway.

The module heights are the standard eurocard height, of 128.7mm.

Oh, in case youre interested, its possible to run the a100 modules off two SLA batteries too, but i wouldnt want to comment on vco
stablity and stuff there.

ps.

I was going to show it off *g* here sometime, but not quite yet.... But seeing as im posting anyway, ive just got my pannels back
from the engraver...
