Hi All,

Firstly, let me appologise in advance if I am using
this group email incorrectly.
I LOVE my Doepfer modular, and i am also a complete
modular junki - I thought this warning would be
relivant to other users of this group...

*This is a warning to all other synth junkies who
trawl eBay looking for amazing deals.*

ARP 2600 MODULAR SYNTH RARE VINTAGE WITH MOOG FILTER

eBay are now investigating this a possible fraud.

I’ve contacted the seller, who told me the Buy It Now
price is US$1500.00 (inc shipping and insurance).  The
seller elected the new Square Trade payment system.

I express UTMOST interest, and I get (false) payment
instructions from his "Square Trade" email which
reads:

"Currently, this seller has a US $20,000.00 deposit in
an eBay managed purchase protection account."
"Sellers from United Kingdom are  not yet eligible for
the PayPal Buyer Protection, which means you are not
protected against fraud if you pay this seller by
PayPal."
"However, Western Union Money Transfer is designed
mainly for sending cash to friends and family in need,
so telling them you are sending the money to an eBay
seller will prevent your money transfer to go through
and you will be unable to complete this transaction."

All these statements are incorrect.


So I email Square Trade, who tell me:
"SquareTrade will NEVER hold money on behalf of any
auction. SquareTrade is NOT an escrow company."
"The email that you received appears to be a
fraudulent email and has no connection with
SquareTrade.  Please do NOT follow any of the
instructions contained in the email."
"The eBay user is NOT a SquareTrade Seal Member, and
we believe that someone may be using their user ID to
commit fraud."

Please note, this "seller" is also selling a MiniMoog
model D on eBay with a Buy It Now for US$1400.00

You have been warned.
...Too good to be true, an Arp 2600 for US$1500.00 and
a MiniMoog for US$1400.00...

...and you'll notice i used the word "suspected". This
seller has not been found guilty.
