Doepfer

Hello everybody!
I guess you´ve had a lot of posts like this one and maybe it isn´t 
too amusing... But I really have to ask for help somewhere because I 
have nowhere else to go at this point.
I´m Martin, age 27, from Sweden. My interest in making e-music 
started with software, mainly the NI Reaktor application, which is 
fun and very educating, but sound sucks, which is why I very 
recently was guided to the Doepfer-catalogue. (((passed ideas of 
Akai MFC-42, and the Radikal Techs new "Spectralis" groovebox with 2 
Analogue fltrs, and mutronics Mutator. I left the first (Akaifilter) 
because I realized it´s far from the best, the second (spectralis) 
because it´s partly more than I need and quite expensive, and the 
third idea (Mutator) simply because I can´t find it))))
Ok, I´ve been trying to find out what modules that should be 
included in my first rack-investment. (one rack is enough for this 
time around, due to economic and space-concerns)
I will try to explain here what I want the system to do, at least.
I have 2 main goals.

1 Amplitude modulation
2 Filters modulation. (2 fltrs in mind: Multimode & Extreme 

Well, this seems to be very easy to fulfill, but looking closer at 
my needs makes things quite confusing: It¨s about creating the 
curves/envelopes to trigger the VCA. I need them to be "rythmic" and 
complex. To describe it easily, I want to tell you about a function 
included in my old EMU-Morpheus synth. (The function is VERY 
common...) I let LFO1 trigger LFO2 depth (each LFO has different 
rate), and then send the "sum" to the Amplitude mod. You probably 
realize the result; a "rythmic tremelo" effect, not just a 
basic "chopper". But the possibilities to make the "pattern"/"curve" 
more complex than this usually end here. So. What I want my A-100-
system to consist of is the possibility to, lets say "chain" more 
than 2 envelopes (maybe 4 or even more) in a serial connection where 
they trigger eachother. The main difference inbetween will be that 
they have different BUT PROPORTIONAL and CONSTANT rates/freqs. What 
will probably do a lot of the job is simply a clock divider. Sadly 
it seems the module only has 2,4,8,16 as N-factors, and I really 
need 3 and 6, to create 3/4 or triplets sounding curves. A CV-mixer 
is also in my planning and maybe it could be a good idea to put 
several VCA:s, (anyone tried to serial-connect these?) 
I don´t know if I should go for the Quad ADSR or the Quad LFO 
modules, or maybe both (?)
What is quite obvious (D. Doepfer confirmed this earlier today) is 
that the module VCLFO will NOT help me because it doesn´t modify the 
depth of the envelope, it modifies frequency which isn´t what I 
need. Maybe the clock sequencer is a useful tool? (My planning does 
NOT include the big seq. module, because to me it appears to 
be "overkill" regarding my "rythmic-tremolator" goal. (?)
Ok. To summarize a little I will take make qustion to a wider level: 
What is the most efficient way to create very individually designed 
rythmic and complex lfo:s/envelopes?

Concerning the no 2 of my goals; filters mod, I aim to do it thru 
midi in "realtime" / "live". (Obviously, I´ll have to add the midi-
CV module for this). I suppose there isn´t much more to say about 
this, although the filters are the absolute "top" reason that took 
me to the Doepfer in the first place.
