the blacet time machine uses a mn3005 bbd-chip (4096 stages),
the moogerfooger uses two of the same chips in series for
a total of 8192 stages. both products are not in production
anymore because of component shortage. both use a built-in
compander for improved signal-to-noise ratio, which is a
very common technique with bbd-based modules.

i guess that individual cv-control for each tap is not
practical for a module. this module would be gigantic in
size and would cost more than we'd pay for it.
at least it would be very difficult to decide the
number of taps, because you have a limited memory size
and the amount of taps would greatly vary with the chosen
delay time.

afaik a clocked digital delay module is in the planning stage,
but there is no further information available yet.
but maybe dieter can tell us more.
