Permanently attached patch cords

Inspired by a thread on the synthesizers.com group - have any of you 
permanent or semi permanent patches set up? - Does having a patch cord 
connected to an input/output weaken the jack? 
I have cv connected to my VCO all the time and Gate to the EG´s.
No problem - but what about you?
