i often use the a172 as value limiter, when i want
to modulate "problematic" parameters.
for example, i want to modulate filter resonance,
but i don't want the resonance to go up too high.
first i connect an a176 or similar to the a172 input
and the a172 min output to the reso cv of the filter.
then i dial in the desired maximum resonance with
the a176. then i connect the modulators to the other
a172 inputs, or i mix the modulators and connect the
mix to the a172. with such a patch it is quite easy to
create wild modulations even on "dangerous" parameters.
the a172 is a very useful module. once you figured out
how helpful this module can be, you won't go without it
anymore.

the a149/1 is really a wonderful module.
i have two of them, one reacts on the rising slope
of the gate, the other on the falling slope.
i use them all the time for all kinds of purposes.
i also use the a149/2 more and more, mainly for
triggering envelopes, reseting lfo's, advancing
sequencer steps or simply for triggering switches.

the a143/1 is a gem. mostly i use it as a complex lfo and not
so much as quad ad envelope (i usually prefer adsr env's).
the built-in polarizing mixer makes a huge difference
and the end-of gates are one of my favorite features,
also on the a143/2, which i use whenever i power up
my modular. both a143/1 and a143/2 offer tremendous
possibilities and leave room for exciting explorations.
