Hi list, To be honest I think the respons to my suggestion of an alternative quantizing module is not very promising yet. However the basic idea could be made more attractive and usable by adding the possibility to work with scales and arpeggios both in standard and 'weird' tunings. For this the 'masking' of certain values/steps of the active tuning would be needed. E.g. n=12 (regular 12 tone tuning) Masking the 2nd, 4th, 7th, 9th and 11th step would result in only outputting values that are in the regular major scale we are all familiar with. But of course with this masking principle you could make every possible scale in the 12 tone tuning. And for other values of n you could create even more unusual scales and arpeggios. As user interface for masking I would suggest using midi note messages. Pressing a certain key on a midi-keyboard to realtime toggle on/off the masking of a corresponding step in a tuning. This way a new scale or arpeggio could be created in a split second, and even playing the quantiser would be possible. Presets of favorite scales or arpeggio's could be stored in a midi-sequencer. And while I'm thinking up more features: a three way switch that decides if the mask is 1, 2 or 3 octaves wide would enable even more creative scales and arpeggios. Personally speaking I would be quite content with the basic idea as I posted it a few days ago, but maybe combined with this extra idea more people get interested? greetz Anton
