The A-196 is less a module to create direct audio results (though it can 
be used for it). It is more a kind of control module. What you might 
call "non subtle" sounds, are technically seen "failing" control 
functions of the PLL. If the PLL works right, you shouldn't recognize it 
at all (it would only create an audiofrequency at a certain ration above 
the input frequency).

So since there is no "littlebit failing" or "more failing" , but only 
"failing or not", there is also no more subtle or less subtle kind of 
PLL-Sound.
