i really cannot comment on this topic, i have never used
a schaltwerk. the schaltwerk is a discontinued unit,
it can only be purchased second-hand or you have to find
a dealer who has a stock unit left.

best wishes

Since there are other people here who might be interested in this topic (e.g.,
me) I would like to kindly ask that replies are posted to the group. And I
believe the members here are able to avoid turning this subject into a
flame.

AW: [Doepfer_a100] I want the truth about Schaltwerk

2006-09-20 by hardware@doepfer.de

OK, here is my statement:

I don't want to start the discussion about Schaltwerk again as it is no
longer manufactured but ...

there have been no bugs in the software but some customers asked for
additional features that were not possible with the available hardware (i.e.
microcontroller type, program memory and data memory). We never had promised
these additional features (e.g. higher internal clock resolution than Midi
clock, groove function, individual gate length for each step, polyphonic
note events for each step, realtime recoding function ...) but there were
some customers who expected these functions and were disappointed that we
could not add them because of the technical limitations of the Schaltwerk's
hardware (remember: it was developed about 10 years ago).

The Schaltwerk does all the jobs that are described in the information about
the device and the user's manual (available for download on our website) -
but nothing else more.

Best wishes
