Hi,

was anyone here at the Frankfurt Music Fair? What was presented at Doepfer
and others? Did anyone play the new controllers?

Florian

Hi Florian,
I was there and got my experiences with the prototypes of the sensor-keyboard
and the ribbon controller, both very useful modules.
The ribbon controller works great.
The sensor keyboard was a first prototype with some ideas implemented, but it
seems to me. that this kind of controller is that I ever wished for a live
performance with the A 100.
You can use the keys as controller giving away a gate signal, a CV for pitch
and a mono pressure, each key can be patched 3 times anywhere in the system!
It is an absolutely must-have for me!

best regards
Axel

Hi Florian,

Dieter Doepfer meant to fit out the sensor-keyboard in any case with
sequencer and MIDI-out, because those are low-priced accessories.
Against that an additional row of knobs or sockets is very expensive.

It was great to see Dieter Doepfer and Bob Moog in action at the
Frankfurt Music Fair:
Dieter Doepfer stands in front of the A-100 with a lot of cables and
presses the buttons of the Schaltwerk,
Bob Moog goes on knees, one hand on the keys of the Voyager, with the
other hand he controls a gear on the floor...

A-100 - Voyager -

I was there, to be honest it was too busy in the Doepfer Booth (because of the combination with some other companies with modular synthesizers and of cours Big Briar with Mr Moog himself) and I haven't had the chance to play with the doepfer system myself
there was a touch sensitive pad-keyboard and some kind of press-sensitive ribbon controller, 2 racks filled up with modules including a (custom built?) oscilloscope, a space-ball interface (mouseball interface?), lot of joysticks, oscillators, filters and other modules, a complete vocoder, trautonium modules and lots more
I noticed that someone else got a demonstration of the ribbon controller, patched through the quantiser and it worked very good, but the looks were awfull (probably a prototype) with a ribbon inside an aluminium case
It all looked very interesting but my attention was taken by the other companies in the booth, I fiddled around with the minimoog voyager, the moogerfoogers, I actually met mr Moog (..), analog solutions was there with the new russian looking (but UK manufactured) black synthesizer, consisting of AS modules in one case, it had 2 oscillators, a very good filter, a 8 bit sample playback oscillator, a pin-based patch matrix (!) and lot of other interesting features (price 1700 euros) and can be integrated in a doepfer system, also the technosaurus was there and all other kinds of interesting 'toys'
I had a good time over there !
