Clock for A188-1

Clock for A188-1

Hello
Maybe a bit of naive question, BUT... what module in the A100 can generate clock for
A188-1?
Best,
Alexandre

hello alexandre,
the A188-1 has its own on-board clock.
best regards,
bakis.

Hi Alexandre,
the question isn't naive, because the clock the BBD requests has no
relation to normal clock signals.
Surely it has its own clock, but that is not the answer you are waiting
for, I suppose.
At time no module of the A100 isn't able to give a useful clock signal,
only another BBD because of its HSVCO.
I asked Mr.Doepfer some weeks ago the same question, his answer was,
that the SC Filter will have a useful clock signal.
In the beginning of developement is a precision High Speed VCO.
He really gave me a good hint to use only short patch cables to
synchronise two BBDs because of the high frequencies.
All the best and happy christmas
Axel

Yep... then thats kinda what I thought that at the moment there isnt such clock in the
A100.... because I tried with the clocks I have and my A188-1 2048... and no result...

So answer then is HSVCO... OK

btw... I really like A188-1 with all this three positions buttons, it gives good possibility to
really play with A100 as an instrument... I wish more and more modules are equipped with
this three position thingie for CV1 or CV2 inputs on various modules... I know this can be
done with other modules like A132/A150 and a theremin controller for example... but just
this little buttons is much more practical and doesnt waste space with extra modules...

Best,

Alexandre

you could try to modify the clock of your bbd module by
feeding it into clock dividers, or you can mess around with
an a196 pll module as clock source. but it is very important
that you use the shortest cables possible. most patches stopp
working if you use cables of a certain length, so the patch cannot
get too complex anyway. a really suitable module for that purpose
would be a separate high-speed-vco, which is not yet available, but
as far as i know it is already in the planning stage.

an idea for this forthcoming hs-vco:
multiple outputs with different clock divisions !!!

best wishes

I cant remember if I tried with the PLL... I'll try... but dividers yeah... I'll try that...

only for the cables going in and out of the BBD clock?

yes, only the cables for the bbd clock.
