Portable theremin in mini case?

Portable theremin in mini case?

2007-01-09 by travesty14850

So...the Doepfer web site depicts a little mini-theremin built into
the new mini-case. But when you look closely at it, it doesn't
contain an oscillator. I'd love to make something like this,
but...can you actually fit a complete, independent working theremin
into this case? There would have to be the two theremin controllers,
an oscillator, and...an A-132? Would that work? Would it fit? I
realize A-132 is not optimized for audio, but...

An alternate question, then...it should be extremely easy to just buy
a mini power supply and build one's own case, and then you could use a
full-sized VCA. However, what if I wanted to...add a second
oscillator? There are only four busses on the mini power
supply...could a guy jerry-rig a splitter cable to power 5 modules off
that tiny supply? Would there be enough mA available?

Thanks!

Ahhh, I see...but then a regular VCO wouldn't fit, correct? So I
would need to build my own housing if I wanted to use the A-110...

OK, thanks Dieter...

It contains an A-143-9 (VC quadrature LFO/VCO) as sine VCO. Details on the
Theremin page http://www.doepfer.de/a178.htm

Right. We are about to prepare some products that will ease DIY projects and
keep the prices as low as possible, e.g. a power supply with external
transformer (no dangerous voltages in the DIY case), low cost threaded
strips and some more. We are about to prepare instructions how to built a
case with wooden plates you can get from a hardware store. If you want a
smaller case the threaded strips and bus boards can be shortened with a
handsaw.
