I think the biggest question I'd ask is, "what kind of sounds do you
want to make?"

Are you trying to put together a system that will provide a certain
sound, or do you want to get experimental? Are you interested in
building your own modules or do you want everything to be pre-built?
Do you want to stick to playing with a keyboard, or do you want to
have a self running system, with or without a sequencer?

The biggest "issue" I've seen in the analog synth world is delivery
times - try to buy something from a store that has what you want in
stock, or you may have to wait quite some time.

Are you signed up for the Analogue Heaven email list?

Hi Doug,

Thanks for the reply. I'm looking for that classic analogue sound in the
first instance but definitely want to experiment, which is why I'm
interested in taking modular route really, rather than simply buy a fixed
synth.

I'm a total novice when it comes to electronics though, so wouldn't dare
attempt to build my own modules, for fear of burning the house down! ;)

I think I'd primarily use a MIDI interface to control the synth, either with
a keyboard controller or a computer based sequencer.

I have read elsewhere that waiting times can be quite lengthy, is this
something to expect in general or mainly for newly released modules?

Thanks for the heads up on the Analogue Heaven list, I just signed up! :-)

Regards,

Pete
