DIY Case

DIY Case

2007-05-28 by bellenger_a

Hello,

I'm planning to build a DIY case using the new kit
One thing I'm not sure about
How to attach the rail?
Is it screwable from the side?
Like on the Doepfer suitcase?

Also I would like to have 168HP (X12U) wide, in this case is it possible to put two rails one
after each other directly, or is it necessary to have a wooden piece/separation in order to
screw the rails from the side...

How clear is that message... well... I hope someone understand and maybe already have
done a case with the new kit...

Best,

Alexandre

Hi Alexandre,

I'm glad you asked this as I was contemplating making a 168HP wide
case myself at some point in the future.

I really like the monster case but I think it is going to be far too
expensive to ship to Australia so I was thinking about making my own
but have not been able to source the 168 HP wide rails. Proma have
changed their catalogue and are no longer listing the individual
Eurorack parts. Either that or I am going blind and just can't find them!.

Dieter, is it possible to connect two 84HP rails together to make one
168HP rail? If not is it possible for you to to offer 168HP wide rails
like those in the monster case? Further to this, is it possible to
order just the rails without the DIY power supply?

Regards,
Adam-V.

The rails are available even as 1 m pieces from ProMa. These are used in the
monster cases (shortened by our case manufacturer). We do not have the rails
in stock as we do not built the cases in our company. Our case manufacturer
orders the rails directly from ProMa for the case production. We obtain the
ready built cases from our case manufacturer.
I ask you to order the parts directly from ProMa. This is why we publish the
source of supply on our web site as we do not want to become an electronic
shop. But I'm quite sure that there is a manufacturer of suitable 19" rails
even in your home country though it might be not easy to find. I cannot
imagine that it's necessary to order such mechanical parts from Germany.
Maybe other members in your home country can help you.

Best wishes

OK Thanks Dieter.

So, anybody know of an Australian source for Eurorack rails?
