A-112 Patches

A-112 Patches

2007-06-19 by j_inform3r

Hello all,
One of the modules that I have yet to dig deep with is the a-112. I've done some funny things
with the internal speech sample but that's about it. I've heard Ingo's great samples but they're
quite similar to the things I've done. Has anyone done anything more "musical" with this
module? Is it possible to load something like a PPG Waveform and have a sort of monophonic
PPG voice? Can you get MiniWave like timbres from this module? I'm away from my studio so I
can't try it right now. Otherwise I would do it myself. I would love to hear some stories on
what other owners of this module have done. Anybody use it for percussion? Anybody use
the PC program with it? Sorry for any cross-posting.
Regards,
John

Hi John,

Unfortunately I can't help you a lot, since I'm actually in the same
train with you. Done lot's of Speech-mangling and used it as a delay
unit, but I'd really like to try to do some wavetable-stuff. But since
I don't know wavetable-synthesis that well, I didn't know how I should
start...

Anyway, a google search yields the following two links, with software
that could be a good starting point to create some wavetables to dump
into the A112.

http://www.xs4all.nl/~avg/tranzilon/info.html
http://www.wiard.com/support/support.html

The last one (wave256) should come with a complete wavetable IIRC.
Well, so far, I didn't look at these tools yet, but I think you should
be able to create Wavetables from these, that one can dump into the
A112...
I'm gonna look at these tools as soon as I have some time at hand...

Looks like it¹s just you and me scratching our heads over this Michael!
:)
However.... I did once sample the sine wave from my Plan B VCO into the
a-112 and had some interesting results. I still feel like I¹m not really
³getting it² though. Maybe I¹ll read the manual again. In the mean time, if
anyone has any killer a-112 patches they¹d like to share I¹m all ears!

    Regards,
    John

Looks like that indeed. In fact, I posted a very similar request
sometime this year and
never got a response =)

Anyway, I just messed around a bit and dumped the wavetable that is included
in the Wiard Wave256 program package into the A112. (I assume this is
the standard
waveform city / miniwave wavetable) and got some interesting results.
At this point, some
of its banks are quite useless to me, but others sound great. I have
to admit though, that
its quite hard to find the right table and modulation amount, since
each of the wavetables'
banks consists of only 16 waves and even the smallest Wave-CV adjustment makes
the osc jump to a wave that's in a whole different bank...

I'm probably gonna take the most usefull banks and create a new binary
with larger
banks and more interpolation steps between waves...

Anyway: I did notice, that with my A112, a Wave-CV of 0V does not correspond
to the first page in the wavetable! Does anyone know wether this is
normal behaviour?

Hello, new to the list. Just browsing through post...

couldn't you use an attenuator to scale the incoming CV so tht the proper waveform
scrolling was achieved?

I do not own the A-112 (next on my to buy list), or I would try this.

Right! Another application for the mixer A-138a/b (new version with offset
function for input #1) or offset/attenuator A-129-3.

Best wishes
