199 reverb advice

199 reverb advice

howdy
I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions how to prevent the tank from clanging
when using it in a live situation. I'm performing with a drummer and anytime we play at a
small venue the tank makes excessive spring noises due to our close proximity. I
currently have the tank mount inside of a portable suitcase. Before I take any actions, I
wanted to know if you guys or gals have any suggestions in preventing or limiting this
problem. thanks!

maybe damp the springs just a little bit? that way you still have reverb
but considerably less clanging. just a thought.

I have my tank wrapped in fiberglass insulation
paper side out. Then that little bundle is
zip-tied to the inside of the case. That
works pretty well. If that's not enough
I'd suggest using longer cables and sitting
the tank on the outside of the case on some
foam and maybe more foam on top of that.
Try different materials to "de-couple"
the spring tank from surrounding vibrations.
The funny thing I just thought of is,
guitarist have been using spring
reverbs in their amps on stage for years
with out that many issues. Is it because
a twin reverb is heavy as hell and operating
at such higher levels?

Thanks for the advice!! I think I may try out your idea.

I think you may have a point with the tank being heavier as well as the amp itself is much
heavier than a portable suitcase sitting on top of a shakey keyboard stand.
