Dieter you should make use of the top of the case that gets taken off
, that could be 2 more rows. then I'd def buy it, so it would have the
Buchla 200e style look

sounds really good...

I still hope it will be possible to use the base frame for putting on top of it two small
versions suitcases...

My personal favorite is the monster base frame (as it is) and separate a
half monster case (i.e. 2 rows only with 168 HP each) that can stand on the
base frame. Only one unit would become too heavy from my point of view. The
monster base frame and a half monster can be carried easily by one person.
If all is within one unit two persons would be necessary.

b.t.w. For the Frankfurt Musikmesse next week we have mounted a ribbon
controller with two d3m angles to one of the two monster base frames we will
display. I have added the new pictures to the info page of the monster base
frames. It's a very robust construction and only 2 screws are required to
assembly/disassemble the construction. The ribbon can be stored inside the
top cover during transportation. And the A-100CGK can be positioned below
the ribbon.

Best wishes

Just perfect, Dieter ! Thanks.

When exactly are you at the Messe; in which hall ?
I might hop over from Antwerp to say hello to you.

This sounds like a very reasonable version too. Doe you know what is the
weight of the monsterbase? To my experience every big box above 20kGs is
no fun. I have a DX7 in a case, which weighs 19kgs and a FZ1 with 16 kGs
and you definitely do not want to stumble with those two in the left and
right hand.

I'm only on Wednesday and Saturday at the booth. We exhibit within the
special show "Synthesizer Welt" in hall 5.1, booth B66 (details on our
website). On Thursday and Friday the guys from Schneiders Buero will
probably look after the booth.

The weight of the first monster base (filled with modules as shown in the
pictures) is 16 kg including the top cover.

The Steckbox/A-183-1 competition has been discussed and solved in a friendly
way with Andreas of Schneiders Buero. Who needs a stand-alone version will
purchase the Steckbox and who wants a Eurorack modular version the A-183-1.
So I don't think there will be much chat ...

I assumed that it would not be possible to extend power cables from the
power supplies inside the case to the top of the case.

That is appealing. I have some questions:

- What is the maximum module depth for modules to be mounted into the
lower row of the Monster Base Frame?
- I haven't seen "half monster case" mentioned before. Is it available
yet?
- Does it stand freely on top of the Monster Base Frame, or is there
some special connection?
- Can I comfortably put two regular A-100G6 Basic Frames aside each
other on top a Monster Base Frame?
- In the above case, can I remove the A-100G6 rack ears? (I ask,
because it is a bit difficult to try that myself just now.)

For the first prototypes the depth is ~ 70 mm for the lower row. We wanted
to keep the height as low as possible and for 90% of all modules 70 mm is
sufficient. The bus board for the lower row is mounted in the rear area
(i.e. not below the modules).

> - I haven't seen "half monster case" mentioned before. Is it available

No. So far we built this case only as special designs.

> - Does it stand freely on top of the Monster Base Frame, or is there

It stands freely but we will probably add the same threads at the rear side
as for the monster cases. These threads can be used to connect several
devices with a flat bar available in hardware stores.

> - Can I comfortably put two regular A-100G6 Basic Frames aside each

If you speak about the standard 19" frames: no. They are much too deep and
two 19" frames side by side are about 2x480mm=960mm. But the monster base is
only 890 mm.

> - In the above case, can I remove the A-100G6 rack ears? (I ask,

In this case the width would be OK. But you need an additional footprint for
the rear part of the frames as the available area on top of the monster base
is only ~ 160 mm.

Re: A-100 Monster Base

Thank you.

Would these Suitcase measures apply to the Half Monster Case too?
"inside usable depth for A-100 modules: approx. 80 mm in the power
supply area (bottom right), resp. approx. 100 mm in the remaining
area (measured from inner side of the front panel until end of the pc
board of the module)"

My Plan B M15 VCO is 103mm deep... Maybe I it goes into the upper row
of the Monster Base? Has anyone tried M15 in a Suitcase or Monster
Case?

I have Peter's M15 in our demo system (two monster cases and the two new
monster bases) and had no problems to install it. I have measured the exact
distance. In the area outside the power supplies the useable depth is ~
106...108 mm (distance between inner side of the frontpanel and the female
header of the bus cable connected to the bus connector. Our specs are always
a bit on the safe side :-)
