Yes, I totally see your point, if the module is going to have temperature compensation/be useful as quad VCO. Maybe it would be worth the extra expense (HP and €) to have both: 2 CV ins + reset in per LFO/VCO? (Or at least a simple compromise: a single "common" reset/sync in for all 4 LFOs/VCOs, which would fit on the panel without making the module wider.) 

That would be very useful when for example using the four square outs for triggering synchronised polyrhythmic stuff. And wouldn't the reset inputs be the same as hard sync inputs in the audio range (please inform me if I am wrong)? Think of the monstrous sync lead sounds that could be made, syncing all 4 VCOs to a master oscillator :-) Or the intersting things that could be made by syncing one "submodule" to another's square out. Now I'm just speculating of course.

+1 for both 2 CV ins *and* reset ins...that would definitely be better  
than either 1 CV + RST or 2 CVs.  If necessary the reset ins could be  
on a separate extension module maybe?

The resets should effectively be the same as a hard sync i guess, yes,  
and would be very useful for many applications.

I doubt that. Dieter should speak a word.

The Korg MonoPoly can be configured as three sync slave VCOs to one 
master. It is quite surprising, that the difference between only one 
slave-VCOs and several slave-VCOs doesn't really matter. It becomes 
slightly more interesting if you have different modulations on the 
different slave-VCOs.

Vice versa it suonds quite exciting if you sync one slave by several 
master VCOs - slightly detuned or even polyphonically played!

So far we have only the version without temperature compensation working. As soon as we receive the prototype with temperature compensation I can report on details.

True, when I come to think of it! :-) I used to own a MonoPoly for several years. Must try this also with my (fully patchable) Oberheim 2-voice - 4 vcos each with a sync in. But I still think a common reset in would be very useful for example when using the module as 4 slow triangle lfos, or for synchronised polyrhythmic gating from the pulse outs.

unfortunately it is not that easy. You need to "OR" the sync out-signals 
of the polyphonic VCOs to get a proper signal for the sync-in.

As first test you may use a standard polyphonic synth which provides 
manual pulsewidth control. Set the pulswidth to the hearable minimum and 
then feed the sync in of your VCO-Module with the signal from that 
polyphonic sound.

Another suggestion about the future A-143-4

Hi There,
This A-143-4 module looks quite good already, but I have one more
suggestion:

Why not add a row of four attentuator pots to control the output level
for each osc ?
Might be handy four both LFO & VCO applications.

hello joost,

since almost all inputs on the a100 have attenuators
this would not be so useful for the single outs imho,
but i agree that pots for adjusting the levels
on the sum output would be nice indeed. 
maybe there is another interesting option
by adding an internal pin connector for each
lfo output. these could be used for normalling the
lfo outputs to the input jacks of an a138 mixer or
a138/3 polarizing mixer. would be slightly bigger in size,
but the additional mixer could be used for other things too
and it would not blow up the size of the a143/4 itself.

what i really really really would love to have on the
a143/3 are reset-inputs.

has anyone commented on the similarity to the old modcan 03b quad lfo? they both look amazing though sadly the modcan is no longer available)!i know the modcan one has a switch which can disable each channel from the mix. i think they were three way switches (1 for two different waveforms and the third position to remove it from the mix). this way there wouldn't quite need to be attenuators for each outs (you could always throw them into a mixer if necessary). anyway, i absolutely cannot wait for this module to be available to the public however it turns out. i would buy it immediately!

I agree, this does look like the Modcan 03b (is there also an 03a?)

With the 03b, there are switching jacks so that when any individual LFO has it's output in use, that signal is removed from the mix.  I think this would be a great feature.  The 3-way switch kills the individual output of the LFO entirely (indiv. & mix), I think.

hey rafe, did you ever get your 03b? there was in fact of 03a but alas no more. but who cares with this new doepfer module coming out? if it even has temp comp and the dual outs and double cv ins... i mean this thing is packed. the only change i see was the 3 way switch as you agreed. i think that would cinch this as being unavoidably the most massive set of tools i could ask for in a single module without a paging interface !!!!!

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
