Modules for Effect-ing Drums

Modules for Effect-ing Drums

2009-07-07 by Greg Cerveny

Hello All,

Lately, I am using a roland tr-606 for my drum beats. I find the sound
a bit dull on its own and I really prefer it after a few effects.

I'm thinking of getting a few modules to run it through, but I'm not
sure which ones. I'm guessing a few members of the list are probably
running their drum machines through their modulars. Any
recommendations for fun modules to patch a drum machine through?

Thanks!
Greg

distortion, bit crushers, envelope followrs, ring mods and pitch
shifters are always fun with drums.

delay delay delay delay
I use 2 or 3 or 4 different delays at once to generate new grooves.

top of my list is the wasp filter. it's got the three filter shapes you need, plus it distorts excellently with audio sources when you want that.

(the distortion module is great for oscillators that have a consistent output level, thus allowing small doses of distortion when needed, but you might find it too in-your-face-all-the-time for audio. at least, i did.)

second on my list is a ring modulator, especially for my tr606, which could use some more modern sounds. klangs and donks, no problem!

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
