A143-4 - Keep it simple + powerful!

A143-4 - Keep it simple + powerful!

This concept looks really nice. I missed the polling, but would like to throw my 2 cents in. I would like the module to be as simple as possible, but retain as much unique functionality as an osc/lfo as possible.

CV Ins: freq, waveshape/pwm, reset/sync

Audio outs: osc 1-4 + common

Knobs: tune 1-4 + common, waveshape/pwm manual control 1-4

Switches: wave(tri/saw/rect) 1-4, range 1-4

IMO - external attens, mults, and mixers could be used for all of the features that are easily duplicated by other modules.

The A-143-4 was planned as an triangle core VCLFO with the VCO range as an
option (nothing but switching between two capacitor values). It was never
planned as an VCO with all waveforms, PW/PWM and so on. For this the A-110-4
Quad VCO with a sawtooth core is in the holding pattern.

From my point of view it does not make sense to add one feature after the
other to the A-143-4. It is a bit contradictorily if you say to keep it as
simple as possible and then add a list of additional features that will
double the width of the front panel.

Hello Dieter!

The concept I laid out has only one additional CV in and one additional switch per part (as compared to your last mockup). I just wanted to throw out an image of a perfect version of this module for me.

However, I do take your considerations to heart. I realize that you need a practical module that you can ship!

Of the current versions in debate, I would love the version with sync/reset and stable tuning with range switches. I look forward to this and will save $ and space for it!

I have much respect for what you do, you offer great modules that do amazing work with no fuss!

I assumed you wanted an additional manual control as you wrote "pwm manual
control 1-4", an input socket with attenuator for PWM and a waveform switch.
From my point of view a manual PW control would be essential as well as a CV
input with attentuator unless you swap out these functions e.g. to an
A-183-2 (Offset+Attenuator). As we all know it's always the question how
many functions are implemented into a module (like manual controls, inputs
with/without attenuators) and which functions are "out-sourced". Our idea
was to have the A-143-4 mainly as a quad VCLFO and the planned A-110-4 as a
quad VCO (with PW/PWM and sawtooth). Even the range of the frequency
controls should be different for a VCFLO and a VCO from my point of view. So
it's a bit hard to put all functions of a VCO and VCLFO into one module.
